Our story and manufacture process

Our story - since 1991

I was interested in nature from a young age and I caught my first butterfly at the age of 12 but unfortunately at that time it was not possible to get interesting butterfly species from abroad, so I only got what I caught myself with a net.

So the story of our family business officially begins in 1991, when I first got the opportunity to import tropical butterflies and beetles from abroad.

After the first year I decided not only to import butterflies but to visit their country of origin myself, so I went to Indonesia for 3 months, where I collected butterflies myself and made contact with the natives. In the heart of the rainforest I had the opportunity to observe all kinds of tropical insects. Thanks to the know-how of the natives and the good relations with them, we agreed on a mutual cooperation that has lasted with some of them until today.

Traveling to see butterflies did not end there, on the contrary. In the following years I visited countries such as Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, Burma and many others.

Initially we sold insects by the frame and then wholesale, either online or at shows. As time went on, we no longer wanted to sell insects in plain wood frames, but wanted to create something new. Something that is both modern and unique.

That’s why our wingshape insect frames were created. We have added a map to the frame with the location of origin of the species and with over 30 years of experience, we guarantee the absolutely excellent quality of the insects we sell.

Pinning process

As a first step it is necessary to pin the butterfly and let it dry for some time.

Frame prepation

Before production, the frame must be specially treated so that no pests can get into it and the butterfly will last as long as possible in good condition.

Framing

The butterfly is very fragile, so it is very important that this step is done with great care.

Positioning

After placing the insect in the frame, make one last adjustment to make it straight and symmetrical.

Frame sealing

The last step, which is similar to step 2. Again, the frame must be well sealed to protect it from the outside environment and pests.
