Papilio garamas is a distinctive tropical swallowtail butterfly native to Mexico. Its wings combine velvety black with a bright yellow color that resembles the rays of the sun – from a distance, it attracts attention and looks like a living jewel.
In the wild, it inhabits rainforests and mountain forests and often hovers around flowers or visits muddy places to soak up minerals from the soil.
It is one of the rare species in collections.
